Structural & Design Engineer (UK Based)

Haygrove have been innovatively growing berries, cherries and organics for over 30 years, now around 500ha in 4 countries. Our Growing systems division designs & supplies commercial polytunnels, substrate gutters and associated growing systems to over 50 countries around the world with a turnover of over £100m+ per year. Employing approximately 200 full time and 1000 seasonal staff Haygrove is truly international, and the geographical spread brings a wealth of diversity and opportunity.

Our Innovation department works with our customers to ensure we supply solutions which are functional, sustainable and profitable. Our growing systems are designed, developed and tested rigorously on our own farms to optimise the natural environment for maximum productivity and quality of crop.

We are currently recruiting for an engineer to join our innovation team based in Ledbury Herefordshire. This role would suit a graduate Engineer looking to begin their career or a design engineer with experience of loading and actions on structures especially to EN1991. Experience with CAD packages particularly Solidworks is essential as is experience with FEA.

We are looking for an energetic and energising team player with a creative logical approach to generating new ideas and solutions. You will have a sound grasp of engineering principles both practically or academically and have the personality to implement these principles either as a team or individually. You will have a desire to improve on and question the status quo and understand the importance of our companies triple bottom line approach to business – Profit, People and Planet in everything you do. As part of the Haygrove team you will be expected to operate with Energy, Humility and Intelligence and be as willing to question your own presuppositions as readily as those of others. A willingness to get out of your comfort zone and tackle a problem at its source is a must and desk jockeys or those without a love of the natural environment need not apply.

Our Innovation team consists of a Product Innovation & New business Manager, Design Engineering manager, Design Engineer, R&D engineer, Technical Product Manager & Growing Systems Technician all of which you will have the opportunity to work with. The successful candidate will have the freedom to work with and innovate in areas such as construction, solar power, water harvesting, robotics, automation & climate control. You will have the opportunity to travel nationally and internationally to visit suppliers, customers and other Haygrove subsidiaries both for your own benefit and the that of the company.
